( she genuinely doesn't know. it had actually been the first bar she'd ever been to. what was behind it... you wouldn't know unless you'd done it and her work is a very different field )
I've had a voracious appetite for knowledge ever since I was a child.
[If it had words, she wanted to get her hands on it. The more enlightening, the better. Those that she wasn't meant to have were the most tempting of all.]
Let me show you.
[She'll leave the question of work off the table, for now. This is much more exciting. Eyes sparkling with dark pleasure, she leads Hecate straight to the library, where her books are accompanied by trawling vines and other luscious plants that thrive in the dark.]
( there's a sort of calm that fills her as she steps into the library, a different manner within her posture as she steps slowly into the room. she's amazed slightly by the scope of it, in awe, and certainly a little in love. as a child hecate hadn't had much but had appreciated each book she'd been given, then as a student at cackle's the books became her friends particularly after she turned away all others. now they were still a comfort to her, knowledge and power.
as hecate looks around her hand lifts slightly, magic reaching to lightly scan the tombs for what may be within them. it isn't something that can be seen, perhaps a little light glow in the air, but hecate simply seeming curious )
[And indeed, she maybe preens just a little bit at Hecate's appraisal.]
It's nothing compared to the collection I'd gathered at home, but in many ways this one is far superior. After all, the books span multiple worlds. The possibilities to read from are absolutely endless.
( her head turns to look at claudia, in awe at all of the different possibilities. books from different worlds? that's certainly something that hecate has never done before even if she is now starting to learn of magic from other worlds and how that works )
Something very different to anything that we could ever believe or imagine ourselves.
[Forgetting herself, Claudia breaks into a smile that shows off her fangs, but quickly corrects this, mitigating it in a manner that hopefully isn't particularly suspicious.]
Isn't it? In some ways, such as these, being here is a privilege.
Not terribly long; since just prior to the new year.
[A tumultuous time she's more than happy to put behind her. Soon enough, they've reached a doorway, and Claudia opens it into the spare bedroom. It's decorated similarly to the rest of the home, dark and affluent, but clean and minimal.]
Should you choose to stay, you'd of course be given full permission to decorate the space as you please.

[She's not counting rooms that are primarily features, of course, such as restrooms and the kitchen.]
One of the sitting rooms I've dressed to be more suited to an office, though I tend not to take my work home with me.

I'm glad that there is a library.

You have quite the collection here.
( and she sounds impressed )

Then perhaps you'll be able to help show me what else could be. Others have tried to inform me of positive things but I haven't yet been convinced.

[She's never really been the sort to mentor anyone, for any reason, no matter how small. What a unique opportunity to have!]
I'm sure, as we get to know one another better, we'll enrich one another's life in this peculiar city.

( and not the singular way that this city would like. though she's not yet going to say whether that's even an option )
Whatever they may be.

[Turning around once more, Claudia gestures down the hall, air lightly cheery.]
Allow me to show you to your room.

How long have you owned this place?

( at least just generally in terms of being a functioning bedroom )
If I did stay likely little would be done.
( you've already recognised her dark loving heart )
